Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

summarise the origins and classify the significance of self-image and the images of others within contexts of domination, marginalisation and social change

demonstrate an understanding of the impact on the Aboriginal community of different forces in modern Australian society that shape position, regard and the ability to exist with confidence and power.

analyse attitudinal manipulations as a political device in a media rich world and explain the conservative power of self-image and self-regard in Australian society

Critique the principles of social determination and identify relevant social issues and community contexts that impact on the health and well-being of Aboriginal people.
