Unit description

Explores the difference in Aboriginal addiction in contrast to non-Aboriginal addiction in relation to physiological, social and experiential origins. Students are introduced to programs for addiction treatment, cultural interventions and recovery.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

critique the statistical frameworks and primary factors in Aboriginal addiction

apply critical analysis to understand the whole dimension of addiction among marginalised populations

critically evaluate addiction therapies through an analysis of causation, holistic values and remedial frameworks
