Unit description

Introduces students to the concept of aged care for older Indigenous peoples and Elders. Strategies for creating acceptable and accessible aged care services that encompass family, community and cultural obligations are presented. 

Unit content

Topic 1: Community and Residential Age Care Models

Topic 2: Creating Culturally Acceptable and Accessible Aged Care Services

Topic 3: Diversity of Elder’s Needs Across Urban, Rural and Remote Locations

Topic 4: Provision of Culturally Sensitive and Safe Residential Care

Topic 5: Inclusion of family/carer, cultural and social networks

Learning outcomes and graduate attributes
