Unit description

Introduces students to the phenomena of festivals, special, and mega events. Students focus on the goals and interests of key parties including: government and regulatory agencies, sponsors, community and industry bodies, event performers/competitors, and ancillary service providers.

Learning outcomes

describe festivals and special and mega events, their stakeholders, and their role in contemporary society

identify and analyse the economic, environmental, socio-cultural and political dimensions of staging a festival, special or mega event

design and plan a festival or special or mega event

analyse the challenges of staging a festival or special or mega event and how these challenges are managed through collaborative reflection.
