Unit description

Introduces students to special interest tourism as a unique form within the more traditional forms of tourism and leisure. Students critically examine the social, commercial and regulatory drivers and their impacts on key stakeholders as both drivers and inhibitors of special interest tourism.

  4. Cure on tour: Health, wellness and medical tourism

  6. A journey of self-discovery: Genealogy tourism

Learning outcomes

critically analyse a special interest tourism activity and its impacts on key stakeholders

design and plan a special interest tourism activity that meets the competing needs of key stakeholders

analyse the challenges confronting the special interest tourism sector and its impact on its stakeholders, and how you as an industry professional respond through collaborative reflection.
