Unit description

Introduces students to the major concepts related to the theory and application of motor learning and to develop their ability to structure and present effective learning situations in human movement.

Topic 1: Motor skills/abilities classification and measurement
Topic 2: Performance analysis and measuring motor performance
Topic 3: Expert, novice differences, literature search strategies and critical review of research
Topic 4: Action/reaction preparation
Topic 5: Attention and memory
Topic 6: Defining and assessing learning
Topic 7: Stages of motor learning and transfer of motor learning
Topic 8: Demonstration and instruction
Topic 9: Augmented feedback
Topic 10: Practice conditions - variability and specificity of practice, distribution of practice, whole and part practice, and mental practice
Topic 11: Applied skill acquisition
