Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

distinguish and apply clinical reasoning to the construction of exercise interventions for medical pathology

demonstrate an understanding of the role of multidisciplinary approaches including medical and surgical interventions and the implication of medication regimes upon clinical status

select, modify and demonstrate the application of safe exercise programs to affect positive changes in exercise ability and functional capacity including the inclusion of exercise for the treatment of pathology

formulate responses and management strategies for the provision of first aid and the appropriate reporting to referrers, primary health providers and other health providers

evaluate the evidence base for mode, intensity, duration, frequency, volume and progression of exercise interventions for chronic conditions

communicate effectively, via both verbal and non-verbal methods, with clients/patients and service users, medical professionals and other allied health professionals
