Unit description

Examines the physiological responses of the body to various exercise stresses and the adaptations which occur within the body as a result of repeated exposure to these stresses.

  1. Introduction to Exercise physiology, acute and chronic responses | Exercise – adaptations for health | Skeletal muscle function
  2. Circulatory and respiratory responses to exercise
  3. Bioenergetics and exercise metabolism | Body composition
  4. Cardio-respiratory fitness – the mechanisms of adaptation
  5. Anaerobic power | Muscular strength | Fatigue
  6. Environmental physiology and performance aids

Learning outcomes
