1 Understand and investigate the relationship between mental functioning (psychosocial) and occupational performance and explain the impact of mental illness on occupational performance.
2 Articulate the role of occupational therapy within mental health services such as in Early Intervention, Acute Care, Long Term Support Services, and other general and specialized services for consumers and carers in mental health.
3 Critically discuss the implications of global trends, federal and state legislation and policies, practice trends such as the use of evidence and consumer focused practice on mental health services, among other factors, on occupational therapy in mental health services.
4 Select and conduct relevant assessments in order to investigate the relationship between occupational performance, mental health and substance addition.
5 Apply knowledge of the person, occupation and environment in planning, implementing and evaluating collaborative mental health programs.
6 Apply theoretical perspectives and best practice models in planning and implementing occupational therapy programs for specific clients within a mental health practice setting.
7 Identify and assess the functional outcomes of intervention.
