Unit description

Introduces students to the issues and needs of Human Service Providers to address the processes, issues and management of secondary/vicarious traumatisation. Students will benefit from a group experientially educative structure. Students will also explore theories and definitions in relation to self-care responses in addressing symptoms of secondary traumatisation. Group exercises and activities, supported by informed discussions will support the learning process of students to deepen their understanding of theories and concepts presented.

Topic 3: Secondary traumatisation and human service provision
Topic 4: Structures, processes, organisations and communities
Topic 5: Dealing with your own secondary traumatisation
