Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
describe the development of selected body system organs and tissues, including how structure supports function at the cellular level of these organs and tissues
apply knowledge of the four tissue types of the human body at a cellular level, including their embryological origin
compare and contrast healthy tissue and diseased tissue in selected human body systems
demonstrate safe and effective practice to section and stain tissue in preparation for microscopy

Protective clothing. The following items must be purchased and students must wear them to each laboratory class: a white lab coat (available from the Co-op Bookshop on campus or online), fully enclosed sturdy shoes, with a sturdy sole and heel (shoes must fully cover toes, heel, sides and top of foot and be made of thick material), safety glasses (available from Co-op Bookshop on campus or online).
