Unit description

Requires students to consider a complex forest operations scheduling problem and to design a solution that optimises production, costs and safety, using simulation software.

Unit content

Topic 1: Describing complex problems as materials and flows
Topic 2: Introduction to simulation/optimisation software (SIMILE) and computer programming.
Topic 3: Data collection and model building
Topic 4: Decision support under changing inputs to complex problems.
