Unit description

This unit aims to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of circular economy principles and their critical role in sustainability. Students will explore the relevance of the circular economy paradigm in addressing global challenges, assess their own business practices, and apply systems thinking to contextualise circular economy within broader economic and policy frameworks. The unit emphasises the potential for the circular economy paradigm to foster innovation, resource efficiency, and sustainable development, preparing students to drive transformative change in their professional spheres.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

articulate the concepts and principles that underpin the circular economy paradigm and compare with other economic and resource use models

reflect on the alignment of circular economy principles with different values systems including Indigenous knowledge principles and values, your personal values and motivations, and corporate values and responsibilities

analyse the relationship of the circular economy paradigm with relevant national and international trends, policies, regulations and frameworks

communicate the potential benefits of a circular economy and challenges for its adoption to a range of different internal and external stakeholders.
