Unit description

This unit develops students’ capability to undertake a full scale engineering project. This Capstone Project unit represents the culmination of the Engineering degree, integrating the knowledge and skills gained throughout the course, including engineering principles, planning and design, communication, teamwork and management.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

apply systematic processes to formulate, design and manage the undertaking of a complex engineering project in the chosen field of engineering specialisation in a workplace with some independence

generate, evaluate and select from alternative design solutions to a complex engineering problem in the chosen field of engineering specialisation in a workplace with some independence

effectively communicate outcomes from a complex engineering project to a range of stakeholders including diverse cultural and Indigenous perspectives

critically reflect on and self-assess development of proficiency in the Engineers Australia Stage 1 Competencies for Professional Engineers.
