There will be a 4 day compulsory residential for all students that will be held on the Lismore campus. Please refer to http://scu.edu.au/timetables for further information on timetables.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

use a systems approach to identify the environmental, social, legal and planning context associated with complex catchment and floodplain systems

quantify impacts of urban development on stormwater quantity and quality using industry-standard modelling software

construct one- and two-dimensional numerical hydraulic models of water movement in rivers and across floodplains using industry-standard software and evaluate and interpret the results

derive and communicate appropriate solutions to catchment and floodplain engineering problems by using a multidisciplinary systems approach to integrate technical knowledge with other contextual factors.

undertake reflective analysis of progress towards meeting the Engineers Australia Stage 1 Competencies as a result of studying this unit.
