    This unit requires the use of SolidWorks software. The software is Windows-only; there is no MacOS version. Mac users will need to install Windows on their Mac via Bootcamp or similar or use the computer in A2.41/42 in Lismore Campus either remotely or in person


Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

describe current and emerging tools and methods to manage the engineering design process

employ industry-standard computer-aided design (CAD) software to produce a basic drawing to communicate an engineering design using established design requirements

use CAD to produce detailed plans, sections and models and perform design calculations relevant to your engineering specialisation

create a simple model using 3D CAD and 3D printing
