Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
discuss the nature and role of English as a language of communication for participation in society
investigate theories of language acquisition, and the relationship between language acquisition and learning
demonstrate knowledge and skills associated with the study of English as a discipline, including textual analysis and engagement with literature
evaluate the importance of home, culture, language and context as part of language and literacy learning
demonstrate skills in personal, academic and disciplinary literacies
