Learning outcomes and graduate attributes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

1 apply systematic processes to formulate, design and manage the undertaking of a major engineering project .
2 formulate an overall plan of attack including alternative conceptual solutions and methods to critically evaluate them and then perform the design calculations and integration necessary to deliver the project outcome.
3 demonstrate awareness of the professional and ethical responsibilities in producing the required design outcome.
4 collate the results and present clearly and effectively the proposed solution, conclusions and/or recommendations in both written and oral formats.
5 demonstrate the attainment of the 16 Stage 1 Engineers Australia Competencies through a written report.
