Learning outcomes and graduate attributes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

GA1: Intellectual rigour, GA2: Creativity, GA3: Ethical practice, GA4: Knowledge of a discipline, GA5: Lifelong learning, GA6: Communication and social skills, GA7: Cultural competence

1 Understand and describe the global distribution of water on the earth's surface and how it moves through the hydrologic cycle.
2 Understand and apply probabilistic methods for quantitative analysis of rainfall variability and flood frequency analysis.
3 Understand, analyse and interpret stream hydrographs and hydrograph components, and implement techniques for calculating runoff from a catchment.
4 Undertake a detailed literature review to locate, identify and critically assess knowledge development in the discipline of hydrology.
5 Produce a written technical report based on proficient application of techniques for quantitative hydrologic analysis.
