Unit description

Develops a student's understanding of the water cycle and shows how to perform quantitative hydrologic analyses. Provides students with the knowledge to determine total and peak runoff from catchments for a variety of design calculations.

Topic 1: The hydrologic cycle

Topic 2: Major hydrologic and climatological parameters and their measurement

Topic 3: Basic concepts of rainfall, runoff and infiltration

Topic 4: Quantitative methods for rainfall estimation

Topic 5: Quantitative methods for runoff estimation

Topic 6: Introduction to hydrologic design
