Unit description

This unit engages students in critical analysis and application of effective leadership and governance that contributes to the successful operation of an early childhood service. Students identify and critically evaluate quality human and physical environments for children’s learning and development aiming to build a positive organisational culture and professional learning community. 

Unit content

  1. Philosophy, effective management, and roles and responsibilities for staff.
  2.  Setting goals with staff: aligning with the service’s philosophy and planning for professional development.
  3. Effective recruitment, team building and workforce planning strategies.
  4. Robust induction and staff appraisals procedures.
  5. Effective staff meetings and training for centre success.
  6. Bring the whole team with you.

Learning outcomes

Critically analyse successful operations of early childhood service in regard to governance and leadership.

Critically evaluate and implement strategic frameworks to define and achieve organisational goals collaboratively with all staff in professional settings.

Critically appraise and evaluate how to implement factors of a positive organisational culture and professional learning community.

Critically analyse service requirements to transmit solutions to build a dedicated team for successful operation.
