Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
demonstrate a broad and critical understanding of the knowledge of the Stage 6 Visual Arts syllabus, including recent theory and research in the relevant disciplines
demonstrate knowledge of the Content Endorsed Stage 6 Courses in Ceramics and Photography, Video & Digital Imaging
develop engaging units of work and lesson plans related to selected theoretical and practical content of the Stage 6 Visual Arts syllabus, demonstrating familiarity with the required syllabus outcomes, objectives, key competencies, knowledge, skills, and understandings
apply current pedagogical theory, including the NSW DEC Quality Teaching Framework, and critically engage with a range of contemporary perspectives and issues related to teaching Visual Arts at the Stage 6 level to develop effective teaching and learning strategies that encourage students with a diversity of learning needs, styles and cultural backgrounds to engage effectively with Visual Arts in Stage 6
identify and critically examine assessment and reporting procedures and strategies in the context of the Preliminary and HSC standards-referenced assessment framework
source and assess the appropriateness of resources (including ICT) that link to informed and effective teaching and learning across the Stage 6 Visual Arts syllabus and the Content Endorsed Stage 6 Courses (in Ceramics and Photography, Video and Digital Imaging)
demonstrate well-developed written and oral communication skills, as appropriate to the needs and expectations of the profession.
