Unit description

This unit aims to engage students in the critical examination of effective communication strategies and their application with the ECEC stakeholders. The unit will include critical analysis of the communication from the perspective of team building, managing change and advocating for the early childhood sector.

Unit content

  1. Effective communication strategies: similarities, differences, perspectives and methods of communication Part I.
  2. Effective communication strategies: similarities, differences, perspectives and methods of communication Part 2.
  3. Building trust, promoting wellbeing and being supportive.
  4. Team building strategies.
  5. Networking within and advocating for the ECEC sector.
  6. Conflict resolution strategies.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

Critically examine and evaluate the similarities, differences, perspectives and methods of communication in Early Childhood Education and Care contexts.

Critically evaluate and design advanced strategies to build trust, promote wellbeing and provide comprehensive support for diverse stakeholders in complex professional contexts.

Critically analyse and apply effective communication strategies, to lead and advocate for ECEC to stakeholders.

Analyse and apply appropriate conflict resolution strategies with all stakeholders.
