Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

knowledge, respect and understanding of the social, ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds and how these factors may affect learning

knowledge and understanding of students' skills, interests and prior achievements and their impact on learning

knowledge of the available professional development opportunities and the importance of personal planning to ongoing professional growth

an understanding of the importance of involving parents and caregivers in the educative process and the use of a number of strategies to seek that involvement

the capacity to work effectively with external professionals, teachers' aides and community-based personnel to enhance student learning opportunities

the capacity to liaise, communicate and interact effectively and appropriately with parents, caregivers, colleagues, industry and the local community. On completion of the professional experience placement students should have achieved the Graduate Teacher Standards.
