Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
discuss key concepts and definitions related to young people's health and wellbeing
identify and analyse key factors that contribute to the health status of young people
demonstrate an understanding of sociocultural perspectives of health
explain the role that schools play in promoting health within contemporary public health policy contexts
describe key features of the Health Promoting Schools Framework and apply these to the area of social and emotional wellbeing
demonstrate an understanding of how social and emotional health status impacts upon young people and plan for school-based programs that draw from contemporary health promoting schools and curriculum frameworks to build protective factors.
