Students must complete all Foundation year units (96 CP) prior to enrolling in this unit to meet NESA Accreditation requirements.
Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
review current academic literature about English curriculum and pedagogy for Primary Years: Foundation/Kindergarten – Year 6
demonstrate knowledge of the structure, content and requirements of the Australian Curriculum F-6 English and NSW K-6 English Syllabus
design a teaching and assessment sequence for the curriculum content and pedagogy for English across: Speaking and Listening, Reading and Viewing and Writing and Representing
prepare lesson plans which incorporate the Australian Curriculum General Capabilities and Cross Curriculum Priorities within K-6 English curriculum
