Unit description

This unit introduces diverse philosophies relevant to the meanings and purposes of education. The unit provides a space for students to discuss and debate big ideas about education and observe their implications and applications in practice. Students are encouraged to recognise and develop ways of knowing and being that help them to think and act critically, creatively and inclusively in diverse educational contexts.

Learning outcomes

identify and describe educational philosophies and theories, and engage in learning to reflect on their key ideas critically and creatively.

describe and explore the philosophical foundations that inform educational practices.

reflect ethically on personal assumptions and beliefs about the nature and purpose of education.
