Unit description

Introduces diverse philosophies relevant to the meanings and purposes of education. The unit provides a space for students to discuss and debate big ideas about education and observe their implications and applications in practice. Students are encouraged to recognise and develop ways of knowing and being that help them to think and act critically, creatively and inclusively in diverse educational contexts.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. demonstrate an ability to identify and analyse the philosophical foundations of educational practices

demonstrate an ability to critically and ethically reflect on personal assumptions and beliefs about the nature and purpose of education
