Learning outcomes and graduate attributes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

1 identify and discuss key national and international influences that impact on student wellbeing, the professional practice of teaching, as well as the effect of national policies on curriculum content and approaches
2 synthesise educational ideas and issues through research
3 identify the role played by professional standards frameworks in the professional life of a teacher and assess the role and importance of school policies, regulations and statutes as these impact on teachers' responsibilities and students' rights
4 identify professional development opportunities and the importance of personal planning to ongoing professional growth and demonstrate a capacity to reflect critically on and improve teaching practice
5 demonstrate knowledge of the importance of teamwork in an education context and understand the significance of effective and appropriate liaison with all stakeholders.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
