Learning outcomes and graduate attributes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

1 identify developmental and other issues in classroom and behaviour management
2 evaluate ways in which society, culture, gender, race, religion and economic status affect the nature and outcomes of schooling
3 demonstrate how to apply appropriate pedagogical and management approaches through the development of rapport with students and other appropriate strategies
4 demonstrate a capacity to reflect critically on and improve teaching practice
5 identify the range of policies and policy documents and procedures that teachers may need to comply with following employment including an awareness of current NSW legislation, particularly those relating to child protection and teacher duty-of-care obligations
6 link pedagogy, curriculum and learning in the classroom (school placement), operations of a secondary school and roles and responsibilities of a teacher.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
