    Available to Secondary and 3007016 - Bachelor of Technology Education students only. Must be prepared to travel at least 90 minutes to and from a school for a professional experience placement. This unit has a compulsory two day weekend workshop if students enrol externally.

Unit description

Introduces foundation concepts of learning, teaching and curriculum, various theories of, and models for, learning, how students' achievements impact on learning, and how social, ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds may affect learning. Pedagogical approaches, policy documents and organisational practices in a secondary school are considered.

Learning outcomes and graduate attributes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. 6 link pedagogy, curriculum and learning in the classroom (school placement), operations of a secondary school and roles and responsibilities of a teacher.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
