Unit description

Encourages students to value career-long professional learning and provides an opportunity for students to investigate a classroom, school or community-based educational problem or issue of their own choosing and to present the findings in a format suitable for professional dissemination.

Unit content

  • The role of professional and research literature and professional groups in supporting ongoing professional learning (including professional organisations, conferences, websites, journals and magazines)
  • Planning for your investigation
  • Conducting your investigation
  • Presenting findings from your investigation.

The topic of the project will be determined through negotiation between the student and the unit assessor or his/her nominee.

Learning outcomes and graduate attributes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. 5 gather and present appropriate data to support the investigation and (where relevant) to evaluate outcomes arising from an intervention and recommend follow-up strategies
6 present the findings of the investigation in a format suitable for professional dissemination.
