Unit description

Learn to apply visualised design solutions as an experiential design process to create environments that communicate, orient, inform and educate. Influences on communication across varied contexts are explored, forms and theories are critiqued and the processes of design and the practice of problem solving is applied through design thinking in relation to authentic tasks. Students learn to present and communicate new ideas with creativity, confidence and fluency. Students will apply their activity tasks specifically to their chosen discipline area.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

define design research, design thinking and industry frames.

demonstrate skill in a range of drawn techniques used to communicate design concepts and solutions, including the use of graphic software.

demonstrate abilities and self-awareness as an oral, written and visual communicator of designed solutions.

design novel solutions to authentic contexts through design thinking processes specifically to their chosen discipline area.
