Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
assess the structure, properties and characteristics of timber and timber products
describe timber recovery and conversion processes and the production of manufactured boards
select appropriate timber or timber products for uses in a range of consumer, commercial and industrial contexts
demonstrate sound industry-specific workplace communication skills including literacy, numeracy and graphics communication approaches such as orthogonal and pictorial representations and industry production drawing specifications
describe and demonstrate appropriate WH&S and maintenance practices for a timber workshop environment
demonstrate broad foundational skills and methods for joinery, construction and finishing of timber products
apply appropriate principles and techniques for the design, preparation, manufacture and presentation of timber products.
