Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

explain the nature of design and technology and the industries associated with them

discuss the interdisciplinary nature of design and technology

apply a holistic approach when explaining the factors influencing design

define each of the foundation concepts of design

outline the processes of experimentation, evaluation and research

discuss the use of design processes as applied in the development of projects

discuss the work of designers across a range of settings including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and other Indigenous peoples.
