All students are required to meet compulsory participation requirements to pass the unit. Online students must attend a 2 day on-campus residential.
Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
discuss co-occurring addictions and mental health issues
identify specific assessment and referral skills for counselling clients effectively within the context of addictions
analyse ethical and legal issues when working in the area of addictions including alcohol and other drugs
apply effective strategies for treatment and relapse prevention
