Unit description

Provides students with a body of knowledge, skills, attributes, qualities and values required of ICT professionals. Students will be introduced to principles, standards, code of conducts as well as awareness of cultural diversity, conflict, and its management in a multicultural workforce. Students will explore a range of issues that ICT professionals must manage, allowing students to identify and understand current and emerging issues generated by an ever-changing technology.

Module 3:  Sustainable and ethical computing in practice

Module 4:  Cultural and accessibility considerations

Module 5:  Diversity in Information Technology

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

discuss complex contemporary issues in ICT professional practice

analyse and apply ICT principles, standards, processes and codes of professional conduct to manage and provide ICT products and services

analyse the importance of effective communication, collaboration and social skills in productive ICT professional management and practice

assess situations involving social, cultural, legal, and ethical factors of ICT and consequences for individuals, organisations, and society
