Unit description

Gives students an in-depth understanding of switched and wireless network technologies focusing on switched and wireless Local Area Network (LAN). Students will gain knowledge and skills by analysing major LAN protocols, prototyping and configuring high performance and high redundancy LANs in an industry standard simulation environment. Students will also learn to troubleshoot typical LAN issues.

Topic 2: Switched and wireless LAN protocols

Topic 3: Switched and wireless LAN prototyping

Topic 4: Switched and wireless LAN configuration

Topic 5: Switched and wireless LAN troubleshooting

Topic 6: Implement high performance and high redundancy switched and wireless LAN

Learning outcomes

prototype and configure switched and wireless LAN in a simulation environment

demonstrate ability to troubleshoot common issues in LAN.
