Unit description

Provides students with a body of knowledge, skills, attributes, qualities and values required of ICT professionals. Students will be introduced to principles, standards, and code of conduct as well as awareness of cultural diversity, conflict, and its management in a multicultural workforce. Students will explore a range of issues that ICT professionals must manage, allowing students to identify and understand current and emerging issues generated by an ever-changing technology.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

discuss contemporary issues in ICT professional practice

critically appraise ICT principles, technical standards, and professional codes of conduct to formulate ethical judgments and communicate complex technical and ethical perspectives effectively to colleagues, clients, and the public

discuss the importance of effective communication, collaboration and social skills in productive ICT professional practice

critically analyse the social, cultural, legal and ethical factors shaping ICT practice, and discuss their implications for individuals, organisations and society
