Unit description

The unit introduces the IT industry and provides interactive exposure to personal computers, hardware, and operating systems. Students participate in hands-on activities and virtual lab-based learning to become familiar with various hardware and software components and discover best practices in maintenance and safety.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

describe the evolution of computing and apply basic computer logic and binary systems to solve fundamental problems in modern computing contexts

install, configure, and manage operating systems and virtual environments for modern computing systems

analyse and troubleshoot hardware, software, and operating systems issues in both physical and virtualised environments

explain key cloud computing concepts and apply cloud services for system management, security and performance.
