    This is a capstone unit that integrates the knowledge you have developed during your degree. In it you will work independently with a community partner.

Unit description

Provides students with support to undertake real-world collaborative active learning opportunities located in community organisations or settings and meets community needs through the application of disciplinary knowledge and practice. Develops skills that contribute to students' ability to act as ethical and socially responsible citizens through ongoing critical self-reflection, collaboration, active listening and dialogue.

Unit content

Students have the opportunity to participate in a community partnership project in collaboration with other enrolled students, the Unit Assessor, community partners and practitioners from SCU Engagement. The nature and scope of the community partnership project will have been determined through a collaborative process and articulated in a collaborative agreement.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

demonstrate an applied understanding of critical and active citizenship, including ethical and social responsibility, in their disciplinary context

demonstrate understanding of the concepts of teamwork, mutuality, reciprocity and respect in the context of a community partnership

show capacity for critical reflection on their experience demonstrated through reflective writing

demonstrate understanding of the range of participatory methods appropriate for collaborative partnership projects
