Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

define and analyse a well-defined problem related to road transport systems using practical knowledge of surveying, earthworks, pavement design, and traffic management

analyse transportation data such as traffic flow patterns and GIS for informed decision-making in the planning and designing urban road networks and intersections

create a comprehensive project on road transport systems and effectively convey the findings and outcomes

evaluate management skills, social skills, and professional judgment in contributing to completing a well-defined project in road transport systems

analyse the effects of emerging technologies, including autonomous vehicles and smart traffic systems, on the planning and operation of future road transport networks

design road transport systems by integrating road layouts, geometric design, pavement structures, and drainage solutions.
