Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

integrate detailed technical knowledge of transport and control of contamination in water, soil and air with other relevant contextual factors to define and analyse the behaviour of a complex system related to the environmental impacts of civil engineering activities

evaluate and creatively apply advanced engineering methods, techniques, tools and resources related to transport and control of contamination in water, soil and air to analyse and design solutions to a complex problem related to environmental impacts of civil engineering activities

select, define and communicate an optimal solution to a complex problem related to the environmental impacts of civil engineering activities

manage, within a collaborative team, the successful completion of a project to deliver an environmental engineering solution related to a complex civil engineering activity

apply the dynamics of ocean waves, currents, water levels, sediment transport processes, and marine and estuarine water quality to a coast engineering project

apply design principles of coastal engineering structures and nature based solutions to a coastal engineering project.
