Unit description

Applies a systems-based engineering approach to analysis and design of integrated water cycle management systems. A scenario-based learning approach is used to guide students in applying a range of practical tools and techniques along with skills in systems analysis, engineering design and project management to a real industry-based engineering project.

Module 1: Integrated water cycle management approaches

Module 2: Design and modelling of water supply systems

Module 3: Design and modelling of wastewater collection and treatment systems

Module 4: Water quality modelling and management

Module 5: Design and modelling of systems to manage runoff (stormwater and floods)

Module 6: Design and modelling of integrated water cycle management systems

Learning outcomes

evaluate and creatively apply advanced engineering methods, techniques, tools and resources to analyse and design solutions to a complex problem related to the human-modified water cycle

select, define, successfully complete and communicate the outcomes from a complex project related to the human-modified water cycle

self-assess conduct and performance as a professional engineer in contributing to the successful completion of a complex project related to the human-modified water cycle.
