Unit description

Develops the appropriate skills and knowledge to facilitate exercise therapy within neurological, neuromuscular and immunological conditions.

Unit content

Topic 1: Underlying pathophysiology, aetiology, signs and symptoms, disease stages and diagnostic procedures of neurological, neuromuscular and immunological conditions.

Topic 2: Medical and allied health management including medications, relevant surgeries and expected outcomes, evidence-based therapies, evidence-based exercise and physical therapies.

Topic 3: Relevant literature searches.

Topic 4: Physiological, clinical and functional assessments.

Topic 5: Exercise prescription.

Topic 6: Safe conduct and contraindications to exercise.

Topic 7: Communication issues with clients.
