Unit description

This unit aims to empower students with the knowledge and skills to apply circular economy principles through innovative design of products, services and business models. Students will explore innovative design frameworks, apply design thinking approaches, leverage technology to enhance circularity, and engage with stakeholders to design sustainable solutions. The unit emphasises the importance of extended producer responsibility and practical application, preparing students to drive circular economy initiatives within their professional contexts.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

Critically analyse the role and importance of design in implementing circular business practices

Identify and evaluate a range of different circular business models and enablers, including extended producer responsibility and product stewardship schemes

Evaluate and apply appropriate design frameworks, methodologies, tools and technologies to create circular products and services

Engage and collaborate with a range of stakeholders to design circular service ecosystems and circular supply loops
