Unit description

Students will consolidate their capabilities in preparation to enter the health workforce with the knowledge and skills to apply for and obtain graduate-level roles. Strengthens students’ skills in evidence-based practice and working in collaboration with others to enhance learning and provide coordinated, person-centred, evidence-based, and ethical healthcare. Provides students with the opportunity to integrate university studies with experience of professional practice in a biomedical setting. Students will practise and extend knowledge and skills to an applied area of biomedical science – education, pathology or research.

  1. Careers – The recruitment process and securing a job
  2. Evidence-based practice in healthcare
  3. Reflective practice, self-care, and emotional intelligence
  4. Introduction to transfusion science in the workplace
  5. Laboratory skills revision

Learning outcomes

apply the principles of evidence-based practice in a biomedical setting

critically reflect on your own learning as a scholar and the process for preparing to be a health professional in the biomedical setting
