Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
effectively communicate and apply the principles of histopathology and cytopathology in disease diagnosis
analyse clinical specimens and contrast normal and pathological cellular structures in histopathological and cytopathological applications
apply and interpret staining and other techniques used to enhance cell and tissue visualisation and diagnostics
demonstrate professionalism, safety, and ethical behaviour in specimen handling and preparation

Protective clothing. The following items must be purchased and students must wear them to each laboratory class: a white lab coat, fully enclosed sturdy shoes, with a sturdy sole and heel (shoes must fully cover toes, heel, sides and top of foot and be made of thick material), safety glasses.
