Learning outcomes and graduate attributes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

GA1: Intellectual rigour, GA2: Creativity, GA3: Ethical practice, GA4: Knowledge of a discipline, GA5: Lifelong learning, GA6: Communication and social skills, GA7: Cultural competence

1 Lead underwater surveys across a range of habitats and conditions focusing on safety, OH&S, best-practise diving techniques, and environmental considerations
2 Critically evaluate and choose the most appropriate survey designs and methods to maximise outcomes of diving surveys.
3 Organise, and participate in, dives to safely and rigorously collect a range of data types from underwater environments.
4 Demonstrate advanced interpretation of underwater surveys taking relevant factors into consideration (e.g. observer error, limitations and biases of methods)
5 Demonstrate advanced knowledge of procedures for conducting diving research in marine protected areas
