1 explain basic concepts of microbiology including the factors that affect microbial growth and transmission, the classification of microorganisms and the basic differences between bacteria, fungi, parasites and viruses

3 correctly identify common species of bacteria and fungi
4 demonstrate skills for gathering and reporting credible scientific information
5 demonstrate the practical skills needed to work efficiently and safely in a microbiology laboratory
